One reason PG cited in its selection of the Verity K2E system is its ability to permit search within all of the divisions' databases as well as by-division search. The Verity document-level, indexed security feature is another attraction to PG; only authorized users are able to access and view a given document. PG's global operation consists of seven divisions with a workforce of more than 30,000 employees. Currently, three divisions, including Plant Services, Gas Turbines and Steam Turbines, are benefiting from the Verity K2E implementation. The others are expected to follow later this year. In addition, PG has 450 different document types in its various content repositories, which contain more than 10 million documents. During the initial implementation phase, Verity K2E indexed 35 critical document types in 47 databases holding one million documents. Verity K2E, which can handle full-text search as well as selection of which repository to search, will be rolled out to handle the search and classification of more than 10 million documents. www.verity.com |
