RedLightGreen is a free Web tool that lets students search millions of scholarly items from RLG's Union Catalog, find local libraries where desirable items can be located, and generate citations for research papers in the style of their choice. The agreement is intended to enhance current information sharing between Innovative and RLG to ensure that students will be able to locate quality research sources at many of Innovative's academic, public, or special libraries. RLG is an international, not-for-profit membership organization of over 150 universities, libraries, archives, historical societies, and other institutions with collections for research and learning. Founded in 1974 by The New York Public Library and Columbia, Harvard, and Yale universities, RLG is governed and run by its members, staff and board of directors. The Library of Congress has installed Innovative's Electronic Resource Management, which is designed to provide all of the tools a library needs to collect and manage the licensing and administrative details of its electronic resources while dramatically improving staff and patron access to this information. The Library of Congress implementation is a stand-alone sale that will use an Oracle database. (www.iii.com; www.loc.gov; www.redlightgreen.com; www.rlg.org) |
