EDGAR Online to Use XBRL Taxonomies in Product Enhancements

EDGAR Online, Inc., a provider of business and financial information, has announced its plans to provide complete company financials in eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) via its flagship premium service EDGAR Online Pro and other product offerings.

The announcement came in conjunction with the release of the US Financial Reporting Taxonomy Framework, a family of XBRL taxonomies that is compliant with XBRL International's XBRL Specification 2.1. The taxonomies are available on the Web at www.xbrl.org/us/usfrtf/2004-08-15/TaxonomyFrameworkOverview.htm.

EDGAR Online participated in an effort led by the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) and the XBRL-US Consortium to develop description and classification taxonomies that assign a universal code to each line item in publicly filed financial statements. These taxonomies will be used in EDGAR Online's upcoming product enhancements. Currently, customers of EDGAR Online can access summary data in XBRL, but the new taxonomies are expected to allow EDGAR Online to offer complete company financials in XBRL for all U.S. public companies. EDGAR Online plans to release the series of product enhancements over the course of the next six months.
