Fast Search & Transfer (FAST), a developer of search and real-time filtering technologies, has announced that Dell has deployed FAST Data Search to power the search function on the Dell.com ecommerce site. FAST Data Search features include advanced linguistics designed to match the user's intention with the results presented, automatic spell checking, and search keywords highlighted in all results descriptions. It is designed for large query and data volumes for companies with real-time information needs. Dell's Web site, which runs entirely on Dell PowerEdgeT servers, receives approximately one billion page requests per quarter. FAST Data Search supports over 225 file formats and 49 languages, and includes categorization and dynamic result clustering.
