Convera has announced that Fortis Bank, part of Fortis, an international financial services provider, is using Convera's RetrievalWare to search and retrieve over 400,000 multilingual documents archived in a password-protected section of the bank's corporate intranet. More than 250 employees in the bank's Belgium headquarters use RetrievalWare to search for and access financial, political, and economic data culled from dozens of sources, including newspapers, internal memos, magazines, and the Internet. RetrievalWare also enables the bank's Information Services team to set up personal profiles so that news and information is delivered in a timely manner. The software delivers a list of new titles each morning that match a user's profile, with links to the full documents. Users can modify or update profiles using the intranet. Fortis Bank believes that RetrievalWare has dramatically cut costs as staff now can retrieve multilingual financial news and documents from their desktops, as well as receive news relevant to their personal profiles. Fortis is also using RetrievalWare in the bank's legal department.
