Nuance Communications, Inc., formerly ScanSoft, Inc., has announced that Coveo Solutions Inc., a provider of integrated and secure search solutions for the desktop, the intranet, and the Web has selected Dragon AudioMining for its Coveo Enterprise Search for Microsoft SharePoint. Nuance's Dragon AudioMining technology was designed to allow users to search in audio and video files with text keywords and phrases, unlocking information hidden within rich media files on a corporate server, intranet, Web site, or within private media archives. With the ability to search audio and video content, all Microsoft SharePoint and Coveo Enterprise Search customers will be able to add rich media as a supported content type for search and retrieval.

Dragon AudioMining uses Nuance's speaker-independent recognition engine to create XML word, timestamp, and meta-data information for every word spoken within rich media files. XML speech index data makes the speech information within rich media files visible to text-based Web crawlers and search products. AudioMining extends the statistical models that support this recognition engine to a scalable server architecture, tailored for use in the production and presentation of streaming media. Using Dragon AudioMining the information in news clips, government hearings, training videos, earnings announcements, and analyst briefings can be searched as Web pages.
