The foundation for Ovid's multi-language interface is Ovid's Books@Ovid ebook platform. Incorporating the design and navigation structure of Books@Ovid, the new Lingua interface has local-language search capabilities that support resource discovery across journals and books, and is accessible from a user's account within Ovid Web Gateway, Ovid's English-language interface. Users can search across multiple PDF documents; rank results by relevance; find similar terms; refine results by author, journal, concept or subject; and search and display diacritics. The browse mode allows users to browse by title or browse a dynamic table of contents. The interface enables them to toggle between multiple languages. Also, Ovid has announced an exclusive partnership with QUOSA, Inc., a developer of full-text article retrieval, organization, and searching software, to offer QUOSA Information Manager--a complete desktop environment allowing users to query, update, organize, share, and analyze information. With QUOSA Information Manager, users install a desktop plug-in "dashboard," that enables batch retrieval of full-text content in either PDF, HTML, or abstract formats from channels such as Ovid, PubMed, or other database search sources. QUOSA integrates with existing resource management tools including link resolvers, such as Ovid LinkSolver, and citation management tools, such as EndNote and Reference Manager, for building and maintaining bibliographic files. QUOSA Information Manager has additional add-on functionality to enrich team sharing and alerting with the Virtual Library module. This component is designed to support integrated, copyright compliant team sharing, annotation, and alerting. This module is designed to allow for article information sharing and transferring documents. Ovid has also announced that it has reached an agreement to produce electronic databases for both MIDIRS (Midwives Information and Resource Service), a UK-based educational charity that provides childbirth and maternity information to midwives and other maternity health professionals, and RIPM (Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals/Répertoire International de la Presse Musicale), a non-profit western musical history and culture education organization under the auspices of the International Musicological Society and the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres. The databases will be available on Ovid's SilverPlatter WebSPIRS platform beginning in November. MIDIRS on Ovid will include more than 100,000 abstracted references to published articles and supplemental "grey" literature on pregnancy, birth, neonatal care, postnatal care, and other important topic areas in maternity, midwifery, and childcare. Articles referenced are taken from more than 550 journal international journals. RIPM is a growing collection, updated every six months, of over 450,000 annotated citations indexing music periodicals published in seventeen countries between approximately 1800 and 1950.
